Reporting Requirements

If you need to report an immediate emergency, a person in crisis, or a dangerous situation, please get to a safe place and call 911.

All UNM employees – except those designated as confidential by the appropriate UNM authorities in writing – are considered responsible employees under University Policies 2720 and 2740. All UNM employees must report alleged misconduct to CEEO within 24 hours, or as soon as reasonably possibleFailure to report may prompt an investigation which could result in disciplinary action.

UNM employees should report any discrimination, sexual harassment, or sexual misconduct they see, hear, read a report about, or that is disclosed to them from another person. The information might be received as a rumor, as third-hand knowledge, or may otherwise be indirect – all of this should still be reported to CEEO, even if you believe that someone else has already reported the incident or misconduct. The University cannot ensure an equitable working and learning environment if alleged misconduct goes unreported, underreported, or misreported.

For more information about reporting misconduct, including what happens after a report is made, please see CEEO’s FAQ page.
