One of the issues that I feel is a real pressing one in the world today is that many regions around the world face freshwater shortages, and that’s due to increasing population development pressures and I also climate change.

Caroline Scruggs is an Associate Professor in the Community Regionalism and Planning department. She has been researching the scarcity of freshwater in many regions due to growing population pressures and the impacts of climate change. She believes that major cities worldwide are at risk of running out of water and believes that a better balance between water supply and demand is essential in drought-prone regions particularly in the American West.
